Game Review: Super Street Fighter IV

The Street Fighter series is notorious for version updates...
Street Fighter II: World Warriors-> SFII Champion Edition->SFII Turbo: Hyper Fighting->Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers -> Super Street Fighter II Turbo
With each of those revisions to the SFII series we got a few game play tweaks or roster updates.
With the success of Street Fighter IV it was only a matter of time before we got an  update. Unlike previous version updates this one's a doozy! 10 "new" characters, 5 new stages, 3 new modes, the return of bonus stages and the replay channel, a second Ultra for all characters, new alt outfits for the entire roster!
You'll notice I put new in parenthesis  in regards to the 10 new characters in actuality only 2 are totally new.

Juri: an agent of S.I.N. Korean taekwondo practitioner, who lost her parents and one eye to Shadaloo. Her damaged left eye is replaced by SIN tech (Feng Shui Engine).

Hakan is a Turkish oil wrestler who enters the tournament to prove his fighting style is the best....meh.

Guy: Returns from SFA  and FF

Cody: Returns from SFA and FF

Dudley: Returns from SFIII

Makoto: Returns from SFIII

Ibuki: Returns from SFIII

Dee Jay: Returns from SSFII and SFA

T-Hawk: Returns from SSFII and SFA

Adon: Return's from SF1 and SFA

The new stages are a VERY welcome addition as the few we got with the original were adequate but I'm one of those who thinks every character needs to have their own distinctive stage.
The new modes are great Endless being my favorite as I can now play against all my friends from Capcom Unity, I also like the revamped Tournament Mode, I will probably never get to a real Street Fighter Tournament so this will do.
I'm a creature of habit and when I discovered the bonus stages weren't in the single player mode of Street Fighter IV it bugged me, the bonus stages are an integral part of what makes Street Fighter, Street Fighter.
This is an amazing update to an already great game....absolutely worth the price!

V: Episode 9 Heretic's Fork

Last nights episode could've been so much better than it was in my opinion, the V soldier was a huge let down, the fight with Ryan was filmed so erraticly that it was painful to watch, Valerie's reaction to seeing the V's true form was totally botched, I mean c'mon, no woman seeing that would dismiss it that non chalantly. Yeah she leaves him and no longer trusts him but I think if I found out I had sex with and alien unknowingly and now have some freaky lizard hybrid fetus in me growing I'd be a little more upset beyond "I don't trust you".
The highlight of the episode for me is the Tyler / Lisa relationship, without seeing the preview of next weeks episode I originally thought that Lisa was playing the hard to catch game with Tyler when she told him he shouldn't join the live aboard program, knowing that Tyler would automatically blame his mother for her saying that. Which he did. But then again we know Lisa failed the emotion test, so she clearly has feelings for Tyler...either way it unfolds that relationship has my attention! After seeing the preview for next week I forsee an intergalactic PTA throw down between Anna and Erica...Mom Vs Mom!
Another huge issue I have is Valerie was injected with R6....so they can track her, Father Jack was also injected with R6 unknowingly.. so why wasn't a red flag raised when Anna was informed where Valerie was hiding out that Father Jack's signal shows up at the Thompsons ranch...where the V soldier made visual contact with ALL of them!
I was on the fence with Hobbes, but after last nights episode I'm starting to really like this character, he's a great contrast to Father Jack in my opinion.

And it's almost insultingly obvious Chad Decker has been "converted".
Last weeks episode was great and next weeks episode looks promising, with Anna confronting her daughter about her "grasp of human emotion".

Iron Vs Steel

OMG Tony Stark is hittin theaters in just about a month, I'm guessing Ironman 2 is gonna be awesome and from what I can see the 2010 summer blockbuster to beat.

But things weren't always so super for super hero movies back in the day...lets just say in this case Iron is definately stronger than steel.
If the wait for Ironman 2 seems too insurmountable I have fantastic news, Steel is available TODAY on DVD...(Blu Ray TBA) from Warner Bros.!

SSFIV TV promo + print ad media blitz

Capcom's Super Street Fighter IV media blitzkrieg is now in full effect, personally I hate the song in the commercial and the print ads are reminisent of college bar night fliers but I understand them not putting too much money into this games ad campaign. With Super you're either gonna buy it because you're a fan or you're not. This time around there won't be any undecided consumers that get caught up in the hype and nostalgia.

Fringe "peter"

Last nights episode was fantastic! I loved the retro intro! LMAO at Nina's mobile phone! and "Is this Russian technology?" We all knew the major events but it was still cool to see how the minor details weren't overlooked such as Nina's hand. The scene where Walter and his assistant have a confrontation in the lab was so powerful...I felt the darkside over coming Walter! Fantastic acting!!!!I'm guessing the blonde assistant is the one that dies in the "lab accident", the episode where Peter tries to protect Walter from her daughter. One thing I noticed is it appears the observers can cross between universes with out any technology.
Fox has an A+ show and it seems they know it, fantastic start to a new season!
