Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

The curtain of secrecy is beginning to lift on Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix! This game is a colabrative effort between Capcom, Udon, and Backbone. This labor of love began with the simple plan to give SSFIIT a 1080p facelift like they did with Super Puzzle Fighter, all sprites, backgrounds, and endings were being redrawn but the challenge expanded and soon evolved into a full project where not only were the aesthetics being reworked but also the gameplay. Each character has recieved some type tweek, the bottom tier characters got some much needed work to become more attractive competively and the top tier characters have also been reworked slighty to make all of the cast a bit more balanced, that way you never have a Shin Akuma vs Dan senario. Yes I know Dan isn't in was simply an example.
From the two early screen shots here we can see the amount of detail that has gone into this project, visually the game is going to be gorgeous. And without nerfing the gameplay mechanics this DLC
title for PS3 and X360 maybe the definitive version of the classic Street Fighter II!

SSFIITHDR will have all 17 of the original Super Street Fighter® II Turbo cast, one to two player head-to-head play either offline or online, Single player vs. CPU, player vs. player over the same console, player vs. player online, training mode, An improved network code for the best possible online fighting game experience, numerous online features: In-game voice chatting between players, matchmaking flexibility through multiple options, personal and friends statistics tracking, Quarter Match Mode– this spectator-based system allows online competitors (2 competitors and up to 4 spectators) to use a "virtual quarter" to "buy into" heated two player matches, comprehensive worldwide rankings and leaderboards by character and country - tracks overall wins and losses, number of throws, perfects, highest combos and more, widescreen support with option to select classic 4:3 mode for SF purists.
And now there's a chance for X360 owners to be a Beta tester for SSFIITHDR if they DL Commando3 from XBLA, no word on the PS3 side but it wouldn't make sense to only beta test the X360 build of the game.
Check out the first gameplay footage for SSFIITHDR below SHORYUKEN!

Game Review: MotorStorm

I got Motorstorm bundled with my PS3, but never got around to throwing up a review of the game. Motorstorm is a week long "festival" in Arizona's Monument Valley. The game's intro is hilariously over serious with that gruff old man announcer at the beginning, once you get past stuffy old announcer man the festivities begin. The games graphics are not what we saw in that E3 teaser but I suppose it's better to aim high right? One of the first things I noticed about Motorstorm, the sound level is way higher than any PS2 game I have, maybe because the game is on Blu ray....I don't really know. The music is loud and hard very fitting for Motorstorm.
The environment is well designed and the level of detail is not achievable on the PS2, the closest comparison is GT4's Grand Canyon track.
The game offers eight tracks on or offline; The Grizzly, Sidewinder Glutch, Rockhopper, Rain God Mesa, The Tenderizer, Dust Devil, The Mudpool, Coyote Rage. The tracks may not have much variety but they make up for it in design, each course has sections that branch out and offer multiple paths that intertwine and offer different types of terain from mud to rock to loose gravel. Other than that there's not much variety to the environment which makes sense since this "festival" takes place in Arizona's Monument Valley, but I still would've liked to have a bit more variety.
Motorstorm offers seven different types of vehicles; MX bikes, ATV's, Buggies, Rally Cars, Racing Trucks, Mud Pluggers, and Big Rigs. Do you want to go really fast and risk life and limb? Jump on a Bike (the crash sequences are spectacular!) Do you want to bully your way to the finish line and crush the gravel below your feet climb into a Big Rig. Those are the two extremes in the vehicle selection spectrum. L2 & R2 are used for the gas and break and R3 acts as your boost ignitor. If you thought you were going fast before hold down the boost for a few seconds but watch your boost meter or you'll pull a Challenger!
Motorstorm's online game is just as manic as offline and you can bust out your best Anakin Skywalker on a ATV impression with eleven of your friends. I set up a clan event where we had around 6 people racing together and I never experienced any lag. Motorstorm also supports chat via BT or USB headset, it's open mic but sounds infinitly better than CoD4's chat functions.
The servers are divided into US East, Central, West etc.
Some custom features include time of day, track, public or private admittance and vehicle types.
Motorstorm's like poptarts...IT'S CRAZZZY GOOD!

Bonus: Motorstorm 2 teaser coming atcha!

Street Fighter IV: Here Comes a New Challenger

Here's the latest addition to the Street Fighter IV roster, a Mexican luchador. The designs seem to be much more refined compared to the SFA series and SFIII, which, in my opinion is a good thing. Don't get me wrong really enjoyed the alpha series but El Fuerte and Abel seem like real fighters and they seem like legitimate fighters representing their countries. I also like the fact El Fuerte has some sort of back story unlike Abel's amnesia, the whole amnesia backstory is overdone in games I think.

Introducing El Fuerte!

Another New Fighter Enters the Fray!!

As of this moment, Crimson Viper and Abel have been the only new characters announced for Street Fighter IV, but the time has finally come to lift the curtain on yet another new warrior!

Judging by his appearance and profile, it looks like he utilizes a pro wrestling style. In fact, his style is none other than Mexico’s famous Lucha Libre brand of wrestling! Will we see that style’s trademark aerial acrobatics at work? We can only hope and wait with baited breath…

This fiery fighter is a man who divides his professional life between Lucha Libre wrestling and gourmet cooking. His hot-blooded spirit is enough to give even the mighty Red Cyclone a run for his money! Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for his lackluster cooking skills…

Tropic Thunder teaser

Yes that IS Robert Downey Jr in that picture!
I haven't been bowled over by Ben Stiller lately but these three guys could earn the red badge of comedy with this movie!
What would Charlie Sheen do if war broke out during filming during Platoon? Hilarity perhaps.
Tropic thunder blows shit up 8/15/08 HOO RAH!

Doomsday 2 minute preview

Every time I see footage of this movie I expect to see Mel Gibson but Rhona Mitra will do fine! This movie seems like a blatant clone of Mad Max, which might not be a bad thing but the little voices in my head are telling me this movie will not be as good. I'm also getting a 28 days later vibe from the trailer. The Aston Martin is hot but I sense car commercial in movie sydrome. I shall reserve judgement until I see it, now how will I convince the wife to come along.....
